Session tips and tricks

Thank you for choosing Neu Photography as your portrait photographer.

Here are some tips to make it a great session:

Choose clothing with solid colors and/or very small patterns.  Choose colors that compliment your skin tone and hair.  Burguny, black, whites, and blues are a good basic color choice against any background.

Remember to keep the bottoms neutral to help make the outfit seamless.  Avoid wearing large prints, busy patterns, large stripes.  Try to make sure the clothing is wrinkle free.

These photos will be hanging on your walls and treasured for years to come. By choosing simple, classic clothes you will help give your images a timeless feel.

For family portraits, try and keep the color scheme complimentary.  Pick a couple of colors and choose clothes that will fit in this color scheme.

Since you will be hanging these photos in your house, you want to make sure the colors of your clothes go with the color scheme of your home.

If you are planning to have your haircut before your portrait, have it done at least 2 weeks before.  This gives it a chance to grow out and look natural.

Accessories not only add to your outfit but they can be fun to use in photos.  Hats, glasses can be used as props as well as an accessory.

If you would like to showcase a sport or special hobby, bring it!  Musical instrument? wonderful!  Letterman Jacket? Motorcycle? Car? It can all be a part of your special memory!

Pets are welcome in the portrait, provided they have proper care and guidance during the session.
